Your brain is like a computer. It processes information and it sends these messages all around your body so that it does an action. The brain has different parts to it so that it can function properly; these parts work together to get the actions done. There are many parts of the brain, but there are 3 key parts.
The first major part is cerebrum. This is the largest part of the brain. It is the top side of the brain, and its main function is to provide people with the abilities of touch, vision, hearing, and speech. The cerebrum also gives us the ability of reason, learning, emotion, and movement. Next is the cerebellum, and it is located under the cerebrum. The functions of it are to coordinate muscle movement, balance, and posture.
The brain stem is the most important of the three. The brain stem acts as the connection between the cerebrum and the spinal cord. It controls the flow of messages between the brain and the rest of the body. It controls basic body functions such as breathing, swallowing, heart rate, consciousness , blood pressure, and whether one is awake or sleepy.
