Friendship Games Basketball

This year the basketball boys and girls are more motivated than ever to win Friendship Games. With this being the last friendship games of this year’s seniors who make up a good percentage of the people in the team. After months of hard training and dedication, both teams are at a point were their confidence and skill have met and they are ready to take the trophy back home to La Paz. During the past few weeks training with Mr. Estrugo has pumped the training to eleven. The boys and girls teams are practicing every day (except Friday of course) in order to perfect all the strategies that were introduced last season. This season they expect to win.
After an inspiring win in the cougar cup for the boys and a close second place for the girls. The final game was hard especially considering that the team they were facing had won against them in the group stage. Still, the boiZ were able to secure a strong point lead in the first to quarters and hold onto it until the game was won. During the course of preparing the boys did not win every game they’ve played, there were some that they allowed the other team to run away with the victory. However, you can bet your butts that they’ve learned from those losses and came out of those games with a better team.
Why am I so confident the boys will win? Well, it’s simple, as a member of the team myself I have seen how the team trains and interacts with each other and I can confidently say that the mentality seen in training is one of winners. The mentality of the players in training is a combination of competitiveness and support for each other. While at practice everyone is trying to improve and best themselves, everyone is trying to be the best they can be in order to secure the win in friendship games. Surprisingly, even though the players are highly determined to get a win, when someone messes up in practice they are not met with insults or offenses but instead with constructive criticism and supporting statements.
