Many of us are watching a lot of entertainment in order to, well, stay entertained during these times. The most common type of entertainment people are utilizing is TV Shows. They are really engaging, but how do they affect us? That is what I am going to be talking about throughout this article.
Firstly, we have to look at the extremes. I know it might sound crazy, but some people, even before COVID, have been revolving their whole lives around TV shows and even going to the extent that the TV Show is real life and that they are living inside of the TV Show. This has serious negative effects. Some people just like to binge-watch, this has its negative effects too. If you do this, you are just sitting, either in the dark or in the day, in front of a screen for hours watching a TV Show. First, this is harmful to your eyes. Second, you are doing no physical activity which makes your muscles start to deteriorate. I mean, if you do this once, I don’t think that much will happen, but, if you keep doing it and keep sitting on the couch for hours with no movement, you will be affected negatively.
Usually, there are negative effects for the average watching of shows, we watch a few episodes and then get up and do something else, but, now during quarantine, there is not much else to do. During this time you should really not sit for hours in front of the screen without getting up once in a while, get a drink or some snacks, take a break and come back to the show sometime later. This will not only reduce the negative effects but also will save you some of the TV Show since, if you binge-watch the whole new season, you won’t have much else to watch, unless you binge-watch the whole TV show again.
