Mamani Mamani: The Bolivian Artist

Roberto Mamani Mamani, better known as Mamani Mamani, is an Aymaran artist from Bolivia. Roberto started painting in 1983; since then, he has done 53 art exhibitions. His art has been exhibited around the world. Famous art exhibitions in Washington D.C., Tokyo, Munich, China, Singapore, and London, Tokyo being the biggest art exhibition out of these.

Mamani Mamani’s art is very different from other art paintings. His art has two important elements which are: color and Bolivia. Why do I say Bolivia? It is because most of his artworks have Bolivian elements such as the Andes Mountains, Andean Gods, and Andean animals, like condors, llamas, alpacas, etc. These animals have a symbolic meaning for Mamani Mamani.

Now let’s talk about color. As you can see in the image above, Mamani Mamani’s art has various colors. Bright and different combinations of colors can be seen in his paintings. Combinations such as yellow and purple, or green and pink— pairings that are usually not seen together — can be seen in Mamani Mamani’s paintings.

Roberto Mamani Mamani is one of the biggest exponents of Bolivia. His art and talent made Bolivia be heard all around the world. Paintings such as  “Juntucha de Apus” “ or “Pueblos con Lunas” can make foreign people have an idea of how beautiful Bolivia is.
