After 5 long, and never-ending months, AMC Theaters has decided to open their doors once again in the United States. You might be wondering if they are the only movie theater chain that is reopening. The answer is no; the Regal Cinema, Alamo, and Cinemark have all opened their doors the past week. But the question is, will people go?
Due to COVID-19, the majority of people are afraid of leaving their homes even if it means going to the supermarket. This fear that the virus has created on all of us is tremendous and has also immensely affected the movie theater industry’s revenue as well. While some people believe that it is safer to stay at home and keep everything closed, business owners don’t have the same opinion. This is the reason why movie theaters in the U.S. are opening.
Will people go? There is a chance that people might go, but first, there is an even higher possibility that the majority will avoid movie theaters and will rather stay home. Right now Netflix, Disney Plus, Amazon Prime, and other online movie services are safer choices than going to the movies. Eventually, as the pandemic continues, people will certainly want to leave their houses and will end up going to the movies. The economy needs to get back to normal, but human health comes first. Would you go to the movies or would you rather binge an awesome Netflix Original?
