Presidential Inauguration

Today, Jan. 20, 2021, was the presidential inauguration of the new U.S. President, Joseph Robinette Biden. A presidential inauguration is a ceremonial event that focuses on a new president’s formal transition into office, usually in democracies where he has been elected. It marks the start of the President of the United States’ new four-year term. The inaugural ceremony took place in Washington, D.C, on the West Front of the United States Capitol. This was the 59th presidential inauguration.
The inauguration involves the swearing of an oath of office. An oath of office is an affirmation that an individual takes before assuming the responsibilities of an office, generally a status in government or within a religious body.
After the inauguration, President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris participated in a parade that had been remade due to the pandemic. The first woman and the first woman of color to serve as vice president is Ms. Harris.
“Democracy has prevailed,” President Biden declares as he is inaugurated.
