How to Stay Fit During Quarantine

What have you been doing while quarantined? Are you staying active? Most of us have probably stopped working and dedicated ourselves to watch Netflix and sleep. Am I wrong? Although quarantine has completely changed our daily routines, this is no excuse to stop exercising and remaining healthy. Some may think that because they are stuck at home, they cannot do anything productive and therefore decide to binge on Netflix and eat junk food, but the truth is that there are numerous things you can do that will keep you in shape and prepare you for your summer body.

Before you begin, keep in mind that you do not have to start off strong right away. If you used to have a solid workout routine before quarantine and stopped exercising for a while, you could hurt yourself since you probably lost muscle; hence your body is not as fit as it used to be.

Also, if you push yourself too hard after not exercising for a long time, you could lose your motivation and you won’t want to work out anymore. Take it easy and work your way up. Little by little, increase your workout routine longer than the day or week before, and slowly increment it over time. This will help you establish an exercise routine and keep you in shape.

One thing you could do to motivate yourself to workout is to create a playlist with all of your jams and listen to it as you are exercising. By doing so, you will work harder as you get inspired, your stamina will increase, and you will be in a better mood. Also, you can treat yourself, preferably something healthy, after working out. This will further increase your desire to workout. If you don’t know how to workout because you lack equipment, don’t worry, because there are a number of things you can do that do not require any equipment. You can do jumping jacks, burpees, high knees, butt kicks, etc. Do these for 10 minutes a day and gradually increase the time you workout for. Also, if you just want to focus on a specific muscle, for example, your core muscle, you can search up videos online that include workouts that mainly target the muscle you want to exercise. Just because you do not have the equipment does not mean you cannot work out. There are countless resources you could use to stay in shape.

Not only will your mood improve, but you will feel and look better. Although it may be hard at first, all your hard work will pay off. Now, just because you are working out does not mean you can continue eating junk food every day. You can still eat junk food, but you should reduce the intake of it, and instead, you should start eating protein and healthy snacks so that your body has enough energy to work out. You may be bummed at first, but you will definitely be satisfied with the results.
