Education in art enables creativity, motivation, and curiosity for young adults. However, it is often overlooked in school in favor of other subjects like math or social studies. Art and music help with qualities that other subjects don’t. They help with many developmental skills such as engagement in learning and shaping how students view themselves, as well as the world around them. Art programs potentially help improve student’s concentration, memory, and critical thinking skills. They also magnify communication skills. Music programs integrate many different subjects as well and allow students to enhance their reading and writing skills. Both of these crucial subjects give students the chance to participate in activities they might be more passionate about and if not, then it may help them destress from other subjects.
